The pictures of mothers doubled over with grieve ‘bawling’ for the lost of their children is becoming an everyday sight in Jamaica. On the front pages of Jamaican newspapers and on the television everyday the scene becomes more prevalent. It’s heart breaking. It’s even more heart wrenching when the tears are for the lost of a child who has been brutally and senselessly killed.
On Sunday, September 25, 2005 a lone gunman shot and killed three persons and injured four others during a football match at the Brammie Clarke Sports Complex in Ewarton, St. Catherine. During the match between Rosemount and Ewarton, reports are that the gunman scaled the fence and started firing into the crowd. Among those killed were a six year old child and two adult male ages twenty two and twenty three. The conditions of the other four persons shot is not known at this time. They were all taken to the hospital.

The gunman who is known only as ‘Eddie’ was killed by a security personnel.
You see these types of scenes in the movies or hear of them happening in far away places but never in your wildest dreams could anyone imagine it happening so close to home. I know we have our problems here in Jamaica but this kind of killing takes it to a whole new level. This is war.
‘Dog newspaper’ has it that the gunman was paid by an area Don who was recently attacked. It is said that the gunman actually declared that he was paid to perform the dirty deed before being shot. ‘A hole heap a good that money gwan do him now’. I shudder to think that anyone could be so cruel. I pray that the police will find out the truth sooner than later and that those responsible will be brought to justice.
